Bid to protect some valued lands wins panel’s preliminary approval
Description
The Committee on Environment, Agriculture, Conservation and Land also agreed to recommend, that Hawaii’s citizens have the constitutional right to, and standing to sue for, a healthful environment. The committee decided that a healthful environment should include, but not be restricted to:
• Clean air and water.
• Freedom from excessive and unnecessary noise.
• Adequate preservation of natural resources.
• Preservation of natural beauty.
• Freedom from unnatural and excessive levels of ionizing radiation.
