Title/Description: "The Class of 1850: Most Likely to Succeed, 150 years ago, a school was created by royal petition to eucate the future kings and queens of Hawai'i. At this exclusive academy, the ali'i children were groomed for greatness. What became of them?" Massee, read before the Bar Association of Hawaii at their annual meeting June 19, 1926 (discusses laws pertaining to fishing rights, and the overlap and conflict with private, and governmental property rights). Additionally, there are three copies of correspondence from Principal Cadastral Engineer, R.D. King to C.E. Morris regarding "Molokai Beaches and Rights-of-Way," dated Oct. 29, 1940. SKS12B2:11 1926
Research - Broken Trust Research Mahele/Land Rights Documents Ocean Water and Fishery Rights Folder - Contains correspondence from Robert L. Scott to Clinton R. Ashford regarding an article that Ashford presumably provided to Scott on "sea fishery rights." The letter is dated Jan. 23, 1976, and is written on Hawaii Bicentennial Commission 1776-1976 letterhead. There are a series of papers entitled "Sea Fishery Rights" with labels in the upper-lefthand corner of "Fishery Rights," a series of numbers that presumably refer to the pages, and Ashford." This article discusses fishing rights under the traditional Hawaiian system, how fishing rights have changed with the evolution of land rights over the course of the monarchy, and fishing rights after the enactment of Hawai'i's Organic Act. Other documentation that can be found in this folder includes the "Opinion of Attorney General Hewitt From the Honolulu Advertiser" dated July 22, 1931, discussing Damon et al., vs. Tsutsui, et al., and issues pertaining to this case. The folder also contains the case syllabus, decision upon rehearing, and documents related to the case of U.S. v. J Lawrence P. Robinson, et al., Civil No. 292 SKS12B2:12 1976

Research - Broken Trust Research Mahele/Land Rights Documents Mahele Letter Written to Monica W. Hitori Folder - Letter from Samuel P. King, Chief Judge Emeritus, to Monica W. Hatori. Dated March 15, 1995, and sent on letterhead from the United States District Court. Appears to be a response to Hatori discussing issues related to the income derived from the Crown Lands, and whether the 1887 Constitution "was illegally forced upon Kalakaua." Correspondence alludes to the notion that attempting to bring the latter claim would not yield a favorable outcome for her case in court. SKS12B2:14 1995
Research - Broken Trust Research Mahele/Land Rights Documents Notes on Early Land Titles and Tenure in Hawaii Folder - There is a scanned copy of a portion of a letter dated 7/31/95, written to someone named Barbara. Letter is difficult to read, but appears to discuss " Kamehameha I's policy re landholding by foreigners." This folder additionally contains a paper entitled "Notes on Early Land Titles and Tenure in Hawaii by Richard A. Greer," and the date handwritten in upper-righthand corner reads 1/28/95. Handwritten note by Richard A. Greer on a post-it is affixed to the printed copy. The document is sparsely marked in red pen on several pages. Related to the article is a letter written from Richard A. Greer to Judge King, dated 7/12/95, that appears to be requesting Judge King's feedback. The letter is written on a yellow piece of legal pad paper. In response to Richard A Greer's letter is another letter from Samuel P. King, Chief Judge Emeritus dated Aug. 8, 1995, and written on United States District Court letterhead. SKS12B2:15 1995

Chinen to Judge King that was presumably sent with the enclosed manuscript, dated June 10, 1976, and the manuscript ("Crown Lands from 1848 to Date") itself. The number system in the upper-lefthand corner resets at the section entitled "Hawaii's Land System: Yesterday & Today." SKS12B2:16

Research - Broken Trust Research Mahele/Land Rights Documents Original Registration of Land Titles in the State of Hawaii Folder -This folder contains part of a document (pp. 89-141). It is difficult to discern what purpose this document serves, however, it does make reference to specific rules and provisions. On page 93, a reference is made to a hearing on a motion regarding matters related to one Sarah White, and page 94 is entitled "Withdrawal of application and of documents.," and refers to instructive provisions from an unknown source. The bulk of this document reads this way. On the very last page, is a fill and sign section for the Registrar of the Land Court. SKS12B2:18  
Research - Broken Trust Research Mahele/Land Rights Documents Hawaii Elections (Pre-1950) Folder - Contains a copy of "Official Tabulation: Results of Votes Cast, Territorial General Election Held Tuesday, November 5, 1940." Additional tabulation results include the documentation entitled Copy of Official Tabulation: Results of Votes Cast, Statehood Plebiscite, Territory of Hawaii, Held Tuesday, November 5, 1940, the tabulation "By Authority Tabulation: Results of Votes Cast, City and County General Election, Held Tuesday, November 5, 1940, City and County of Honolulu," and the "American Institute of Public Opinion Survey on Statehood Territory of Hawaii, dated January 11, 1941." Polls conducted by geographic classification, including a news article from the San Francisco News are also included in this folder. In addition to the voting results, a census is also included: "Fifteenth Census of the United States: 1930, Population Bulletin First Series, Hawaii Number and Distribution of Inhabitants (details population of Hawai'i between 1890-1930, the population of cities from the earliest census to 1930, the area and population of counties from 1890 to 1930, the population of counties by minor civil divisionsduring 1930, 1920, and 1910, and the population of the islands from 1890 to 1930)." The first is an analysis on a report, and the subject heading is Land Records Management and Organization in the State of Hawaii, A Survey Report by Public Administration Service.
