Consilience: An Open, Rapid-Learning Network for Engaged Sustainability and Green Transformation

This is actually an email newsletter from IKE Green to announce a webinar called "Unleashing the power of imagination to create the future we want." It is timely because the covid-19 pandemic has really left us wondering about the uncertain future. IKE Green is interested in gathering people to practice "collective reflection" and to "unleash the community's imagination and secure democratic knowledge-creation spaces where happier, more equitable and sustainable futures can be collectively envisioned, new aspirational horizons can be discovered, and emancipatory, transformative social designs can be presented and interrogated."

The newsletter also includes a bibliography of sources to provide access to writers and researchers who have thought about imagination and futures for some time. Some of the lessons learned from some of the readings is that the future is sometimes imagined and certain stories can dominate our understanding of what it is. But at the same time, it can be co-created in the present process of conversation, cultural change, learning. There is also a video of futures consultant Angela Oguntala, to help break down these topics in a video format. There are other resources to educate us on the impact of covid-19 on our economy and how do we redirect our imagination about the future economy?

IKE Green hopes to "create a robust knowledge-building system powered by a common pool of resources (intellectual, material, technical, relational, and reputational) to elicit maximal creative synergy, achieve autonomy, bypass institutional and ideological captures, and accumulate a critical mass for genuine social transformation."
